I was
born on September 20th, 1974 in Brooklyn Heights, New York. At the
time, both of my parents were busy working in the medical field
- so I spent the first few years with my relatives. My grandparents
looked after me in Hong Kong until I was two, and afterwards I stayed
with my aunt in West Virginia.
I returned
to New York when my parents purchased a home in Suffolk County,
Long Island. Most of my life has been spent growing up here. I went
to the Pumpkin Patch
Day Nursery (it rocked!) and I attended the Commack
Public School District for grammar school (Cedar Road Elementary,
Burr Junior High, and Commack High School).
For
a while, I thought that I would become a pediatrician. I volunteered
at the OR in St. John's Episcopal Hospital in Smithtown (now St.
Catherine of Siena Medical Center), the pediatrics intensive care
unit at Stony Brook University
Hospital, and the department of surgery at LIJ
Medical Center. I
also studied at Cornell University
for a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.
Nevertheless,
things worked out differently. After completing computer science
/ graphics coursework at SUNY at
Stony Brook and technical programs in Manhattan, I was hired
by a startup telecommunications company in Long Island City, New
York. I worked in the Information Technology department as a wide area
network engineer for five years.
I recently graduated from NYIT's School of Communication Arts with a Master Degree in Computer Graphics. Much of my work involved supporting NYIT's entry in the 2005 Solar Decathlon. I'm currently looking for work as a creative web technologist.
